“apples to apples…it should be called apples to stupid” — our fearless leader
Through out the week of training camp, Adventures In Missions kept things fairly intense, both physically and spiritually. In the morning we went through sessions on relational evangelism, spiritual warfare, and listen to God through prayer. In the afternoon we were doing physically demanding team builders. Obstacle courses in the hot Georgia heat and humidity.
On one of the last days we went into Gainsville and did evangelism based off what we felt we were lead to go, based entirely off prayer. I was extremely nervous. I wasn´t really sure if I had ever really heard the Lord and now I was supposed to go out and minister to people based solely of what we had received from the Lord.
Once again, the Lord worked in awesome ways. I was planning on just taking a step back and watching. However, after we had started i felt drawn to pray for certain people and go to certain places. Each resulting in a positive encounter.
After we had endured training camp we were sent out into the field. We flew to Nicaragua, through Houston. We didn’t have any problems or delays, despite the recent hurricanes. Our first night we were greeted by the Kaye´s, our missionary contacts. Since then we have been exploring the city and learning and adapting to this new culture.
Next week we will be starting ministry. The one I am most excited about is the ministry at the local girls orphanage. We will be playing with children, helping cook and serve food, and mentor and tutor the older girls in English and in their school work. We will also be working with the local hospitals, cleaning up lake Nicaragua, and doing street evangelism.
Jesus is incredible. When I arrived at training camp I had the realization in the back of my mind that I could be going home. When I arrived I was roughly $3000 short of funds needed to leave. I was also scared and harbored the fear that this is not the place for me. However, I have received conformation that this is where I am supposed to be. I am excited about the ministry we are going to be doing and am learning Spanish quickly. I also managed to received $3100 in funds just during my week of training camp. This brought me up to the required 60% needed to leave. Our God is AWESOME. Thank you for all your continued support and prayers. I will see you at Christmas!
